Another French Hutch

I have been MIA for a few days! My laptop bit the dust and I have been on vacation at the beach! Let me just say it is very hard to get back into the swing of things when you have been away!

Before I left, I finished another french hutch! This client wanted the french hutch I did a few months ago but it had sold. So the day I got the email that she wanted to order one, was the day I just happened to find one and was on my way home with it! Funny how these things happen!

We spoke on the phone and she said she wanted the same colors as my last one. This was going to be used for her toddler to store toys. She wanted chicken wire where the glass was. For easy access I left the door off and painted the shelves and back.

I love the French pulls so I left them on the drawers and painted them. I love doing custom furniture. It is great when the client can choose exactly what they want.

The details are painted in old white and the hutch is painted in Paris Grey.

This became difficult to do when I took the glass out of the sides. I hate to break it. Then when I put the chicken wire in I realized the top arch wasn't like the others I have done. I had to put the wire in the slotted opening to make it sit right. I was a major pain!!

Chicken wire hurts like heck! I always say I give blood when I do one of these! Oh but the results are worth it!

The sun was shining in and casted a yellow hue to the pics...but I love the warmth of it.

Now that I am home from vacation, I will call her to pick it up! I already sent her pics and she loves it!

I have to admit....I am getting used to painting hutches and even though they are a lot of work....

I think they are worth it! It makes such a difference!

Now I really have to get back to working......but alas......I still yearn for the beach!

This was my view in Seagrove FL. on the Gulf! Look how calm that water is! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

The hutch is beautiful ...reminds me of the one I had before we moved. I ended up selling it. But I do have three wall units (colonial style) that I have been thinking of painting. Was wondering what kind of paint you used...acrylic? did you sand before..since my room is blue gray I was thinking of doing it in a lighter gray white color rather than the maple that it is now.

I'm in love! I never find pieces like this. Lucky woman that will have this in her home!

The hutch is very nice and I'm sure your client will love it.
I have a small question....
are the handles on upside down?

@crafty grandma I use Chalk Paint by Annie Sloan. No need for sanding.

@Mary thanks for the compliment! The handles are right side up! Thanks for asking!

While I do like how the hutch turned out, it's that last pic of the ocean that will stick in my mind.
