Gorgeous Buffet

I am so excited to have a friend here today! I know you will enjoy her. She is very talented and quirky!
Please welcome Karen!

Hello fans of Dreamingincolor! I'm Karen and I blog at Somewhat Quirky Design.  And I love hydrangeas.

Deneen was kind enough to ask me to visit with you while she is basking in the glory that is Italy. Actually I've never been to Italy so I only anticipate that it is glorious. I'm pretty sure I'm right about it and I'm a tad jealous.

At Somewhat Quirky I make stuff

I make little stuff.

I make big stuff.

I also paint stuff.

And I eat cake.

Actually I eat cake a lot. Like here, here, here and here...

but enough about cake.

A month or so ago I bought this. Oh yeah, she's a beauty...

The prettiest parts were inside the drawers. It had that gross cheapo gloss wood finish. The kind that fades unevenly and scratches easily.

But I have an answer for all that. It's called Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. Ever heard of it? Old White and Coco to be exact. And a little wax.

Two coats of Old White and a little highlighting with Coco and voila!

It's a September miracle!

I didn't notice that one of the back plates was missing. But never fear - I just lightly painted a circle with the accent color.  Easy as pie...problem solved. You would think I was an artist like Deneen!

I distressed it pretty aggressively. That's what you do when the piece is not so nice. You want it to look like the imperfections were planned.

She's really quite lovely. Because Old White and Coco are really quite nice together.

I put her on my back porch for her pictures. She looks kind of perfect there. Maybe she'll stay there for a bit.

It's been fun hanging with Deneen's crowd. Feel free to join me on the porch for a while.

There will be cake. And possibly wine.

Make something wonderful today!

Karen

Thank you Karen for visiting today! I so appreciate you coming here and sharing all your wonderful things!
