Holiday Open House

I have been meaning to share some highlights of our Holiday Open House here at Dreamingincolor. You see it was not just any holiday open house, we were also celebrating our first year in business!!
This year was so wonderful! Thanks to everyone that came out and supported us.

Despite many obstacles, like my husband needing emergency surgery, I managed to get everything decorated for the holiday.  This year's, like last year's date, fell on Oaklands Museum Candlelight tour so our hours were 10am-8pm so the touring could extend to our house.

Our main area of the house was decorated elegantly with silver, turquoise, white and red.
The majestic deer adorned with glass beads became the center of attention. Though not for sale, people sure did try to buy them! Our tree had the most adorable vintage skates, mercury, french and turquoise ornaments.

The paper sculpture I made was the centerpiece for my mantel. It also became the backdrop to the live music. Jenny Tolman, a former student of mine from back when I taught Forensics, is now an up and coming country star. She also writes music. So I invited her to perform.

I had carolers singing period songs dressed in costume.

The others rooms had trees and holiday decor. Lots of handmade too!

I had the food brought in by my artists and I had the rest catered from Sisterhood of the Tamales.
They are always such a big hit when I have them here that I was so excited to have them again.
The made chicken pork and cheese tamales and salsa.

The day and night was such a success that we stayed open an hour later because of all the people!!
It was a wonderful Holiday Open House.

The weekend before and after the event, Historic Downtown Murfreesboro offered a shopping trolley
and we were one of the stops. It was very exciting to see the trolley come down our street and let customers off to shop.

It really has been a great first year. Thank you for being here reading, shopping and supporting our little business.

Merry Christmas!
I wish you peace in the coming year.

Merry Texas Christmas, You All
We have no jingle bells or sleigh
To display on Christmas Day
There’s not much snow down Texas way
But we sure mean it when we say
Merry Texas Christmas, you all …
