New YorkTable

Every now and again I like playing around with my painted pieces. When you paint so many things you look forward to something different.

I have had this little table for a while. Over the holidays my post on Pinterest of 12 things to do in NYC at Christmas was going crazy and it gave me the inspiration to do a New York table.
New York City is one of my favorite places to visit. The energy and excitement flourishes when you step on the pavement.

"....I want to wake up in the city that doesn't sleep."

My daughter will be moving there again soon. She lived there a short time this summer to go to Stella Adler Acting School.  When she sees this New York table she will be coming up with ways to take it with her when she moves.

It could be called a subway art table too. Playing with different letter styles.

I really just wanted a free hand letterstyle. So I used a white paint pen to hand letter all the places and things to see and do in New York.

I wrote names like Broadway, Times Square and Yankees around the inside and front top of the table.
First I modpodged a scrapbook sheet of New York City pictures. I used this as my guide for lettering the inside.

The little table has some great lines to it and details. That is what I love about old pieces.
I painted it black over white and lightly distressed it.

This table makes me happy. Lots of great memories made there. It is fun to personalize furniture to fit the person using it. You can do so many different designs for something like this. Hope this gets your creative juices flowing.

This is for sale at my store in Murfreesboro, TN.
A far cry from New York City but I am sure there will be someone with the same feeling about that place that I have.

"....I want to be a part of it, New York, New York"

In design it is always good to have a little whimsy in a room.
What do you think?

What a fun project. I love pieces that are whimsical and practical at the same time. This one nails it.

THat is a great table Deneen! I love it and can't believe it will sit long in your shop. I have never been to New York, but if I do, I want to go at Christmas! You are one talented lady.

What a great little table. And I am happy to hear that your daughter is following her dream.
