Fireplace Screen

When I opened my store Dreamingincolor, I wanted to be able to offer unique and creative handmade items. Something that sets us apart.

Something that showcases my art and others.

That is why I loved working on this project.

I like combining different pieces together to form an art piece. Like when I used an antique table leg seen here.

It is my funky junk that helped create this piece!

My customer already had the frame but it was plain. It needed some paint and a little bit of detail. The opened panels used to have fabric inserted and she was looking for something different.

She came to the right place! I already knew I was going to use ceiling tile for the insert. These are faux tiles that you can find at Home Depot. To give them more of an authentic look a dabbed some paint to highlight some of the details. The right one is painted and the left is as is.

I also painted the entire frame in Arles.

There was a problem!

I couldn't get the size needed to go to completely cover the insert.
So I came up with another idea.

This is where some funky junk came in!

I painted some spindled chair rails and screwed them in the bottom of the opening. I wanted to have some spacing under the tile.

I distressed all of it!

But it really came to life when I added the detailing at the top!

It is truly a one of a kind!

That is what I like to offer at my store!!

The customer was thrilled with her newly repurposed piece.

I made it so that she can redo it one day if she wants to.

I am having so much fun with my store and being able to design and create for people is a dream come true!
