A Year in Review

Well, another year has come and gone. Could this be real? It is amazing to me how the time goes so much faster the older you get.
This is A Year in Review her at Dreamingincolor. There were so many wonderful things that I didn't get a chance to write about here on my blog.

This is the top ten posts that you viewed the most!
A Year in Review of the popular things you read about.
I do wish I had wrote more about the beautiful things that were created for the store but I realized that having a store that I have opened and operated by myself has turned into something that has occupied most of my time. With that said, I am thrilled to have written some to share with you.

I will start with number 10!!

Holiday Open House

I have been meaning to share some highlights of our Holiday Open House here at Dreamingincolor. You see it was not just any holiday open house, we were also celebrating our first year in business!!
This year was so wonderful! Thanks to everyone that came out and supported us.

Despite many obstacles, like my husband needing emergency surgery, I managed to get everything decorated for the holiday.  This year's, like last year's date, fell on Oaklands Museum Candlelight tour so our hours were 10am-8pm so the touring could extend to our house.

Our main area of the house was decorated elegantly with silver, turquoise, white and red.
The majestic deer adorned with glass beads became the center of attention. Though not for sale, people sure did try to buy them! Our tree had the most adorable vintage skates, mercury, french and turquoise ornaments.

King's Chapel Parade of Homes

I had the opportunity to tour the King's Chapel Parade of Homes in Arrington, Tennessee last week at an event hosted by Forest Home Media. Several bloggers were invited for a tour and high tea to promote the event.
King's Chapel Parade of Homes is full of gorgeous homes decorated with Christmas charm.
All to benefit the Make-a-Wish Foundation of Middle Tennessee. The event starts December 6, 2014- December 21, 2014. Tickets are $12, twelve and under are free. This is an event not to miss.

King's Chapel is a community built with 350 acres of dedicated green space.

I have to admit, I was in heaven.

There were so many vignettes, holiday ideas, and designer influences all over the beautifully constructed homes by Drees Home Builders, Greg & Rains, Arnold Homes and Tennessee Valley Homes..

Each one had their own designs and personal touches. Each one had something that stood out.
It was sensory overload for this creative soul. You just have to see for yourself. Note: pictures do not do it justice.

So sit back because you are in for a treat.

This was one of my favorite homes. Layered with fresh greens inside and out. This home was built by Drees Home Builders.

How to make Santa Legs

I am so excited about this project!
It was so much fun to do.

The holidays are quickly approaching and the decorating begins! I have worked on getting the tree trimmed and now I am concentrating on something special. Since children of all ages enjoy the magic of Santa Claus. I thought it would be fun to create a project with him in mind.

Once again I headed to Old Time Pottery for all the supplies.

Then my mind went crazy.

I love it because you can do so much with this idea. Makes a great centerpiece for a table too. For all the instructions on how to make these head on over to Old Time Pottery!

It is an easy project to add some Christmas fun to your home. The kids will love it too.

HO! Ho! HO!

How to Make a Beanbag Spider

Halloween is just around the corner.
I have to say that I love the holidays when I can get creative.
This project has a few supplies and a quick turnaround.

Love the impact it has.

Because of its size, this guys isn't as creepy and scary as it would be live but looks great because it fills up a space.

Head over to the Old Time Pottery blog and get all the info on how to make a beanbag spider!
You will see how he looks outside too!

Add some webs for scary fun!

Signs on the Highway

Signs, Signs, Everywhere there's Signs....

I grew up paying attention to signs.
Me and my dad used to read them backwards on long trips to pass the time away.
Then when I grew up I became a sign painter.
Even now, I will drive down the road and know when a color was changed or a new one was put up.

Attractions

That is the blue signs on the interstate letting you know there is something awesome at that exit. I like to take detours sometimes to see where they will take me. Of course, there are all the food signs too! And sometimes you find a local restaurant that is really good.

Where am I going with all of this?

A few weeks ago, Dreamingincolor became a sign on the interstate!! From blog to sign!

Is this real? This is super exciting for me!!

East Ivy Mansion

In the 1800's East Ivy Mansion was built in historic Edgefield  located in Nashville, TN. Home to names like Senator Cooper and Bob Dylan.

It is of an Italian Renaissance architecture with a lot of original features and exquisite furnishings which I will share below.

In 2014 I finally discovered it! Well that is because Ed Clay, owner, was kind enough to open it for a wonderful get together and tour.

Karla from Fresh Collaborations and Dan from Blogging Concentrated sponsored the event. They are part of the Nashville Influencer's group I belong to. They shared some Facebook tips and Ed led us on a tour of this beautiful event venue.

I have I thing for doors and this place did not disappoint. These two were my favorite on the property.

East Ivy Mansion holds weddings, corporate events and even some red carpet events.
Can you imagine have a wedding here?

44,000 square feet of beauty....

There were elegant light fixtures inside and out on the property. These were some outdoor chandeliers.

This is the covered are near the pool that I showed in the first picture.

There are gardens filled with ponds and greenery.

Loved this slate roof

Heading to the house, I took another picture in the courtyard of the ironwork on the balcony from below.

This is the view looking out from above. It is connected to one of the bedrooms. If you book an event here on a Saturday, you can have up to sixteen guests spend the night in the mansion.
 How awesome is that?

The furniture and details of the home where stunning. Here are a few rooms to enjoy. Lots of Pics!
warning:phone pictures

Ed let us see a secret room on the top floor of the mansion. It is usually closed off. We went up very steep steps to the top. It was a small room with an awesome view of the city. He has plans to do something special with it.

I can only imagine how beautiful this could be.

I forgot where I was when I entered the gates of the mansion I have already told my daughter to remember this place when she decides to get married!
Hope I don't have to wait that long to go back and enjoy it.

Thanks Ed for opening up your elegant place.
Much success to you!
