I started with a trashed chandelier. I bought five tea cup saucers and a vintage plate from Goodwill.
I began to take a part the chandelier cutting all wires. and unscrewing the pieces that I didn't want.
I got rid of what I didn't need and kept some things I thought I would use in a different way. I turned the arms of the lamp up and that became the "legs" of the piece.
I kept this screw and used the bottom piece as a pedestal. This screw holds it together.
I decided on pink to go with the vintage feel of the plates. Then I sprayed the brass away!
I used pearl beads and wired them to each cup. There were three screws in the cup. I removed the two side screws and that became the wholes to thread the wires. The front one I screwed all the way in and painted over it so I didn't see a hole.
I washed the plates and used E6ooo glue to glue it to the cups and the center cap.
I used books to weigh the plates down to get a strong hold.
I glued more pearls around the pedestal base.
Love the look and will use this so much I know! Makes a great Mother's Day gift too! I love this outside the box project!
For little cost I have a beautiful dessert stand that I can use for any occasion. I think it would look good as a cupcake stand too! My daughter and I already had a tea party using it! Yes we still have tea parties and now that she is home from college we can have more of these fun days!

I am so tempted to try to make one for my grandma's upcoming birthday...she's always serving little desserts and candies to her friends on card playing day (which is just cute) but thinking about her with this on her coffee table is just too much.
I really may have to try it.
Thank you so much for sharing such a fun idea.

so I'm late to this party, but this is fabulous! So very cute. LOVE IT!
Great tutorial and brilliant idea for the desert stand. With the pink it can be used at most any girly occasion! It really is a fine example of thinking outside the box.
Thank you for your kind word. I am so glad you appreciate me thinking outside the box. This is one of my favorite projects. I love trying something different!!
What a brilliant and original idea. Love it!
I love this idea also...I'm surprised you didn't incorporate a it of the French Script onto the large pink base...!
This is such a cute idea! I think it would also be great for little tea sandwiches for a children's or adult's party.

So cute. Your top plate is the same design as my late Polish grandmother's everyday dishes; I have collected a few in the last year. As my mother would have been 100, these are pretty vintage now! Enjoyed your project!
