We had a great day celebrating! Good food and friends are always a great mix.

I made some crafts and had fun decorating for the party.

Everyone had so much fun! My son played with his band "New found Soul"

I am so proud of him! He wrote all original music and it was really fantastic!
The night was even better. It was cooler and everything was illuminated and looked so pretty.

It is a hummingbird moth. Isn't is awesome? Sometimes you just catch something in a picture that is really neat.

French Perfume Bottle

I found this awesome bottle at a yard sale last weekend. When I saw it I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it.

I went to The Graphics Fairy and downloaded this free print. I cut what I wanted so it looked more original.

Then I got my trusty Mod Podge and glued it to the front of the bottle. Again I brushed over the top to seal it.


I added some binding and a broken piece of jewelry to the top of a flower. Hint: I wanted it to look more aged so I soaked it in coffee, wrinkled it and let it dry.

I filled the bottle with bath salts. Added some pearls to the top and lace.

 

This is going in my bathroom on the side of my tub! 

Isn't the bottle great? Gotta love a bargain!

Paint Stick Flag

With Memorial Day around the corner, I wanted to add something to the picnic area in the yard. I always hang an American Flag in the back. It is the best decor for this day!

I was playing around with paint sticks......
I know you are saying " she's at it again!" I love thinking up things with paint sticks. It will be hard to top my utensil organizer seen here 
But this is something fun for Memorial day or any day. A folky/beachy looking distressed flag.

It's real simple but you need paint sticks! 7 to be exact! Don't worry they are FREE!


Red, White and Blue paint and antiquing glaze
two eye hooks and wire
clay
glue

Gather 7 paint sticks

I didn't cut handle but you can if you want a sharper edge. Paint red and white. Make sure you start and end with a red one. Paint a blue square in top left corner.

I added a little ink too!
The get some clay and and sculpt a starfish. I used the back of a small paintbrush to texture it. Then glaze it.

Add eye hooks to the top and wire for hanging

Since we are having a round of bad storms coming through I am unable to hang it out side.
I'll update later when it clears up.
