First let me start by saying I did not have my own camera with me when I started my journey to Suwanee, GA. I had to borrow my daughters because I actually thought I forgot mine only to find out after the fact that I had it all the long......
old age:)
.....then I took it home with me like a dummy and I didn't have the cable to download the pictures.
FRUSTRATION!
So I ordered a new one instead of having my daughter send hers. That is why this post is a little late.
Let's start from the beginning....
The DREAM.....
HGTV is one of my favorite channels. I love design shows as I am sure many of you do. It was actually on my bucket list-don't laugh it really was.
:to be on an HGTV episode behind the scenes
: have something I created showcased on HGTV
Funny thing is I had no idea that when I drove from Tennessee to Georgia that I was actually doing it for an HGTV pilot.
A while back I read on Layla and Kevin"s blog,
The Lettered Cottage, that they were doing a house and if anyone was interested in helping email them with your talent and let them know if you were interested.
I must confess that when I saw it was near Atlanta I jumped at it knowing my daughter goes to school near theer. At no time did I see HGTV.
I then got an email. In the email it said something about Food Network which I thought was strange but told everyone that I was going to Atlanta to do some work for a pilot for The Food Network. Don't get me wrong, I love The Food Network but it's no HGTV!
So off I went.....
My JOURNEY...
I arrived in Atlanta with the
baby puppy and dropped him off to see his momma and headed straight to the home of the Morrison's in Suwanee. I was greeted by Ginnie and Jason and was put to work sanding a spot painting.
I then met Kevin and the homeowner. Next came Shauna from
Perfectly Imperfect and Charity from
The Heartfelt Home. (You might remember Charity from my last redo at Gina's house)
The CREATION....
I began to prime and paint a console table. I was in my element. Painting , sanding and meeting new friends. The film crew started the camera when Kayla arrived. They had her greeting us and chatting for the scene. I looked pretty bad...sweaty and tired after 31/2 hours in the car, so hopefully there is touch up! Lol I wondered where the makeup crew was but no such luck!
My Blogger Girls
That is when Shauna asked me if I met Patrick. Patrick was great. All the people from High Noon Productions were pleasant to work with. She said he does the shows for HGTV.
"What? HGTV", I said, "not Food Network OMG you gotta be kidding me!" I was so excited.
I was really excited to know two bloggers that were SO talented and adorable were actually going to do this renovation for a HGTV pilot. Wow! (ok so I am a little slow)
I worked in the living room touching up paint and was in awe watching Jason transform a fireplace. the paint to me was the icing on the cake.Once it got on the walls it totally transformed the place.
On Wednesday I arrived at The Queen of Hearts antique mall. I was the first one there and when I walked in everyone was so gracious and welcoming. They had coffee and cookies waiting for us and then they gave me a tour.
Jane was so sweet! She was my tour guide!
Stacey and her booth! Both ladies from The Queen of Hearts.
The mall was large with every isle named after streets in Charlesron. There was so much eye candy.
They filmed us shopping for treasures for the house after Kevin and Layla arrived.
Patrick gave us instructions and we were on our way! What a blast!
That's Kevin and Layla measuring a coffee table. Glad I had my measuring tape on me....(I know ...NERD)
As we were leaving they did another shoot of the little couple "driving" away!
The we went back to the house to finish painting. I spray painted a monogram, handles and a metal table that was going to have a wooden top added to it's base. Painted doors and a planter and had great conversations with my new friends!
This is Whitney. She was with the crew too! So great to work with!
I was sad to leave but had to get back home. I couldn't stay for the reveal but Patrick was nice enough to show me the plan on his computer. It really didn't matter though. I was so happy just to be a part of it and to make connections with so many special people!
The reveal was especially special because it was the homeowner's anniversary. What a great gift!
It is amazing how everyone came to help! I would do it again in a minute! I only wish I could have given them something from me! One of my own creations.
The blogging world is special. In the nine months I have been doing this I have felt so blessed with the opportunities to meet such special people.
And now I can cross of another thing from my bucket list! I hope I get another chance to be a part of this show. I wish Kevin and Layla the best of luck and hope the show gets picked up!
We will know closer to Christmas. Then you will all get to see it! Until then, we have to keep it a secret!
Thanks again Kevin and Layla for the dream, journey and creation!
Till we all meet again....
