French Provincial Dresser Set

Before I go any further I want you to ENTER the GIVEAWAY going on! CLICK HERE!

I want to share a find with all of you. It is a yellow french provincial dresser set. I don't have the heart to paint it yet. The details are beautiful and I just put the set in the store as is.

The drawers are dove-tailed and it is solid.

There are two side table and one tall dresser.

The cabinet opens to reveal three drawers with wooden dividers. The drawers can also be removed to turn it into an armoire to hold a TV.

It is embossed where the scroll design is. I just think it is beautiful. It is in the popular colors of yellow and gray.

Now I just need the special someone to see the beauty in it and purchase it at La Vie En Rose Cottage in Nashville.

Am I right not to paint it? What do you think?

It now graces the window of the store.
I will wait to see what you all think so please let me know!

Duncan Phyfe Style Table

There is a great Giveaway going on right now! Enter at bottom of post!

I have painted a lot of things but never have I painted a table and chairs. I don't know if I will ever do it again too!

It was a lot of work! I had found this at a good deal but that was because the top was damaged. One thing about paint, it makes things look so much better when completed.

It was a Duncan Phife style table that had two butterfly leaves and extended to 8 feet.
I painted it with ASCP first then covered the top with a Glidden Latex paint in black.

The legs are Paris Gray with dark wax.

I love how the details now show up on the legs.

My poor floors are getting a beating! Can't wait for it to get warmer so I can paint outside.

I don't have the chairs uploaded from my phone yet so I will have to post about them another time.

The painting took a lot of time but the end results totally transformed the feel and style of this piece.

It sold already! Hurray! It will be awhile before I get another one though!

It is fun being able to design what you want on your own sign!

How to organize spray bottles

Enter the Giveaway at the end of post!

We are all organizing our things this month. Seems that January is the start of a new year and it makes us reevaluate the space that surrounds us.

When I bought my house a few years ago there were some things that remained with the house. One of those things was a paper towel holder that was attached to the inside cabinet under the kitchen sink.

Not very exciting is it? I really don't use it for its intended use. As a matter of fact it is in the way.
I really didn't want to remove it. Mainly because of the holes. (I know I can fill them in!) I guess when I close the cabinet door I just didn't care about it anymore.

Then when I was organizing the cabinet the other day, I tried something new. I hung all the spray bottles I have on it! WOW! It turned out to be a great idea. It freed up a lot of space for more junk!

So being the friend that I am, I am sharing this idea with you!! Hope it helps with your projects!

The Cutest Little Clothespins!

Giveaway for a custom sign HERE!

I did a little project the other day that was useful and cute!

I started with a very plain antique frame that I spruced up with paint.

I wanted to make a memo board so I attached some chicken wire to the frame.

Then I made the cutest little clothespins.

I stamped out five music sheets in a 1 inch circle.

Bent the sides up of the circle and sewed a button to attach paper together. Glued some scrapbook paper to the clothespin and glued flower to the center.

I just love the way the came out. I did a set of white and a set of blue. Attached them to the frame with a little Valentine vignette.

I want to make more little clothespins! It is funny the little things that excite me lol!

It is My Blogiversary!

Wow it has been a year already! I started this blog and really didn't know what I was going to do with it.  I just started writing and doing crafts. I figured if I just wrote about something maybe just maybe someone would be interested. My first post with lousy pictures!

The day I got a follower, I remember getting so excited. Then I started getting comments! Those are the best! My post of a painted hutch that I thought about getting rid of was the first big furniture project. Also this became my first post to receive so many comments. From then on my blog transformed into what I love to do.

If you read My Year In Review you got to see the many opportunities, projects and friendships that came along with this. I truly am thrilled every time I hear from one of you. I have virtual friends on the blog and some I even talk to on the phone! I'll never forget the first time I talked to Lesley from The Homeless Finch on the phone. It was so weird to hear her voice after emailing her for so long. She was just as I imagined! I cherish each and everyone of you!

My Etsy shop was an idea from a fellow blogger Dawn from The Feathered Nest inspired me and helped me along. I will never forget her precious words of encouragement. And Debbie from DebbieDoos who hosted a newbie party and told me to turn off my word verification and make sure I wasn't a no-reply blogger!

All these people were so helpful to me and I will pass that along to YOU!

I will announce a giveaway on Monday to celebrate ONE year!

Thank you for all you do for me by listening reading comment and just being a friend! I hope you are glad you are here with me! Let me know if there is something different you would like to see this year!

I am always open to suggestions.
Blessings!

Roll Top desk without the Roll

Yes I was crazy! What was I thinking?

This has to be one of my biggest transformations to date. I even questioned myself for buying this monster! I thought it was a project gone bad but the woman informed me her husband painted it camouflage for his office!!! OK I won't even go there....

To top it off, as I was taking the drawers out to load it in my car, a mouse ran out of it EEEKKKK!!!

NOTE TO SELF: Always remove drawers before taking a piece into the house!

When I brought it home I honestly thought to myself "AM I CRAZY!" "THIS IS TRASH!"

But it was sturdy and I loved the little cubbies. It had some hidden potential.

Unfortunately he spray painted over latex so the paint had to be scraped off. Most of it peeled away because the two don't mix!

It was quite a job!

My wrist still hurts!

I wanted it to have a two toned look. So I painted the inside gray.

I added metal numbers to the cubbies. I just love the cubbies! AND We all love numbers on things. There were the perfect amount of spaces ,seven , like 7 days in a week.

I immediately took off the ugly handles and put on some beautiful knobs. I painted the outside black.

On the file drawers I changed the handles and painted the new ones gold to match the ones above.

Sorry for the blurred pic!
I am totally surprised how much better it looks. Once again proving how much you can change a piece with paint, knobs and a little creativity.

Remember the BEFORE

This is the AFTER!

Let me know what you think.
Now I have to clean up my floors!

Would you have taken on this project?

Chalkboard Goodness

I could just scream! Once again I forgot to take a picture before I started to paint.

This was an old mirror that I painted into a chalkboard. I know, nothing that hasn't been done before but I loved the shape of it.

I used chalk paint for the frame and mirror.

I found a cute little saying online but I am sorry I don't know who to give the credit to so if you know please tell me so I can.

It is in the store for sale.

Be yourself, everyone else is taken. -Wilde

I love the saying!

Hope your week starts out great!

Signs of Love

I love making signs. I have done quite a few in my time. Some commercial, some just for fun.

When trying to decide on a Valentine's craft for the store, I came up with these little signs.

We all love things in small packages! We all love something personalized!

I got some wood and painted it red. Applied small words on both sides for a sweet message. Distressed the wood and stacked for fun!

One side says sweet the other side says heart. These are two I stacked. I had so much fun making these because of all the possibilties.  I couldn't stop!

A cute inexpensive gift with just the right words. Bingo! Something different for Valentine's Day!

What cute ideas have you come up with? I would love to know!

Painted White Desk

This was one of those projects that seemed to take a little more time. It all started when my husband broke the antique mirror to this vanity. I was so sad! The mirror was in perfect condition.

Around here, we transform things. I decided to make it a desk and save the broken mirror for another project.

I started to paint the details in blue but really didn't like it so I decided to change it to white.

Much better! Sometimes you just have to experiment to see what you like. I only changed the top pulls and left the bottom original.

I dry brushed over the top of the pull so the details could show up more. I upholstered a little bench to go with it and brought it to the store!

The little mishap turned into a little gem! (and saved my husband) LOL

And if someone wants to hang a mirror over it, I think it could still be a cute vanity! Now it is ready for some love notes for Valentines!

Available at La Vie En Rose Cottage in Nashville, Tennessee.
