Missing my Baby

Last year at this time we had a little Christmas Miracle with our cat. You should read all about it!

We also had to do one of the hardest things I ever had to do. Put down our sweet baby girl of 13 years a year ago today.

I couldn't talk about it last year. I felt guilty mourning over her when all those people had just gone through such a horrific event in Connecticut loosing their children.

Also, it was painful to write.

Animal Paintings

Don't we love our animals? They become part of our family.

I am working on a space for a client and I wanted to add a personal touch to it. I think every space should have something you love in it.

When I saw her dog I knew I had to paint him.

I love to paint but it has been awhile since I have painted on canvas. The last time was painting my valances in my Craft Room.

I have painted all types and styles. A post that best represents this was my Painting and Love post.

This was something I really enjoyed because of my love for animals. I am now thinking of offering custom pet portraits in my ETSY shop. I love how doing one thing turns into something else.

I started with a picture printed off my computer.

I penciled in a sketch of the subject and started layering paint. I used acrylic.

I kept the photo near me to try and get the likeness of the animal as close as I could.

I love the way it came out and I think his owner did too!

What do you think? I love painting on this size. They are 12x12 gallery wrapped canvases.

Painting is a perception. A creative expression. Whether I paint on canvas or furniture it is what makes my soul happy:) If interested in purchasing one of your sweet baby. I am selling these for $160 They are acrylic on 12"x12" gallery wrapped canvas. Shipping is 12.95US I will need an email with a headshot of your pet with a color background you are interested in. If you are local email first so you can pick up with no shipping charge.

Hershey's Chocolate Cake and other Mishaps

For some reason I can't seem to take pictures and cook! Doing too many tasks in the kitchen for me leads to mistakes.

I don't know if it was concentrating on taking pictures or if it was designing my business cards but as I was making the recipe for this scrumptious cake I realized something went wrong!

So if you come to my blog looking for the perfect everything...you will not find it here!

I do have to say that is still came out awesome! If you would like to try it here is the recipe.

Hershey's Chocolate Cake

1 cup sugar
1 cup flour
16 oz can Hershey Syrup
1 stick of butter
4 eggs

Topping
1 stick butter
1/3 cup evaporated milk
1 cup sugar

Mix all five of the cake ingredients together and pour in a 9x13 baking dish. Bake at 325* for 30 minutes.

On stovetop combine topping mixture and bring to a boil. After it boils turn to low for 2 minutes.

Remove and add 1/2 cup of chocolate chips

When cake is done pour mixture over top of cake.

Should be like a glaze. Cool and enjoy!

This is where the mishap occured. Too much evaporated milk! Yes my cake was floating!!!
After it soaked in some I drained it. I tasted it and YUMMY!!! It was still awesome! The topping should have been more of a glaze and it does sink in to the cake but shouldn't have been so much.

Note to self: Pay attention when cooking!!!

The other mishap.....

The other day I was cleaning and I stripped the dog bed to wash it. Puppy has a memory foam bed! He really loves it. I mean who wouldn't it is so soft and cuddly.

But Puppy being Puppy....he decided to get in on all the decorating around here.

OH DUDLEY!!!!

Thank God for Duct Tape!

On another note, I am happy to say that my Thank You Party was a huge success! Lesley got lots of hits and followers! It is all because of you! Thank you and I cannot wait to feature YOU!

Happy Weekend!

Our Furry Baby

This is my favorite spot in the house. The chair in the sun room. I can sit here and guard the house from the squirrels and rabbits!

I am getting old! That is why I have the white beard. I am part chow, part lab. My owner says I am the best dog she ever had.

I am spoiled but I have been through a lot. In 1999 I was adopted and arrived on the doorstep on Christmas Day! I have a brother and a sister now.

I have been dressed up numerous times. I tolerate it because they are so good to me!

I am pretty famous. I played a dog in the play Cheaper by the Dozen with my sister the actress. She is pictured on the right.

I have a famous painting of myself in my favorite spot too!

They thought they were funny one year. Since I have a white beard now they dressed my up as Santa! The cookies were good though. I like my sweets bol! (bark out loud)

I love frolicking in the snow. Mom says it is the only time that I really show up. My black fur against the white snow..... beautiful!

I love my family! Especially my mom who takes care of me and feeds me. I follow her like a shadow to every room. I am never on a leash because I know I have it good here and I never leave my yard.

What I don't like is sharing with a little furball!

Secretly I love her but don't tell anyone!

Thanks for visiting.......

I am over at Debbies at a linky party. My mom has me doing all sorts of things!

She does protect us though. No names where used in this blog post!

She did a little project below.

She bought a wood frame at Michaels. Decoupaged some Doggy Love stamps to the front. Added some dollar store floral gems to the front and put one of my many costumed pictures in it!

I am the queen of the house after all!

BARK!!! BARK!!!
