French Provincial Buffet {two-toned}

Happy fourth of July! I am busy working on a few projects today so no picnicking for me, not to mention it has been over 100 degrees! Staying indoors is fine with me! This is what I finished this week.

There has been a lot of talk around here about my Purdy brushes I won at Haven. Purdy is not new to me though. I have been using them for years, from painting my walls in my home to painting signs in my business. They are the best that I have used and this is NOT a sponsored ad!!! Although I would love for them to call!

One of the ways I love to use them is painting furniture. If you have been here awhile you know there is a lot of that going on! The bristles stay put! Plain and simple! I love the finish of the brush stroke on the furniture.

This is a project I completed this week. A French Provincial Buffet.

It was beautiful when I got it. The curved front and legs are scrumptious!! But..had to paint it!

I wanted a two-toned look for the piece because of the details. I also wanted something neutral so it would sell fast.

I used both a two inch and 1 inch Purdy brush for this project. I use a one inch a lot, even on the big pieces.

I removed hardware. I love the original hardware on this so I left them on. After I painted the door I took my one inch brush and painted the carving in the door and around top to make it pop.

Then I added back the pulls and lightly distressed and waxed the piece.

While I painted a beautiful mistake occurred! Some of the paint crackled! I love when something spontaneous happens like this! It adds such character!

The clear wax was applied all over and then dark wax to the carvings.

I love the look! I also have a hutch and table and chairs that I purchase when I bought this piece. I will not do it as a set so I need to come up with some more ideas for paint color.

Do you ever get stumped on what to paint a piece? The more I do the harder it seems to come up with something!

Enjoy your holiday!

Upholstered Stool and Vanity

The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides.  ~Audrey Hepburn

I felt this quote was fitting for today's post.

I am trying to get back into the swing of things after a long vacation. Between the beach and Haven,  I have lost the momentum I had to keep things on track. Before I left for Haven I stocked up on several pieces of furniture. My shed is full again. I have no room to set up my new Ryobi miter saw I won. So it will sit in the box till I can make room.

One thing I learned from Haven is that the people that stood out were the ones that had beauty in their heart.  What am I talking about? You ask.

The ones you remember took time to teach you a little thing that will help you better your blog.

The ones that made the effort to invite someone to sit at their table so they wouldn't be alone.

The ones that look you in the eye and are really interested in what you are saying.

These are the bloggers that I will visit often!

I started painting a vanity that I had bought before I left.

I loved the shape of the mirror, and it had glass cut to fit the top. It is not very old but it has nice lines. The legs were removed to fit in my car.

It had the cutest little stool but the fabric was worn so I replaced it.

I feel in love with this fabric and have had it for a year! It reminds me of Marie Antoinette. I think it fits the stool perfectly! Look at the curvy legs!

So I took out my brand new Purdy brushes! They are the best!
I used my new sample of Annie Sloan Old Ochre that was in my swag bag from Haven to accent the lines. Louis Blue covered the rest. I distressed it and waxed with clear wax.

Then I put a little girly details on top! Everyone loves to pamper themselves don't they?

Turned into a better after! Love when paint changes the look of the piece.

Ready to be put in the store for sale!

Haven Conference and Swag Bag

Haven is over and what a good time it was! The event was located in Atlanta at the Crown Plaza Hotel. I just got back last night and unloaded all of my goodies!

When I got there on Wednesday and registered, I received a swag bag. This was no ordinary swag bag. It was loaded with some of my favorite products and some soon to be favorites!

I quickly got to my hotel room and scattered it on the bed so I could share it with you.

By the end of the conference my swag bag grew and grew and grew!!! I came home with three bags of stuff!

Purdy Brushes, Frog tape, Annie Sloan paint Kregg jigs Rustoleum and 3M products and much much more!

I unpacked and literally scattered the product on my bed. What a glorious mess!!!!

Its like my HGTV Shaw Floors bag and Haven bag had babies!!! I am separating all the loot now!

This made it extra fun. Anytime you can come home with something free it makes it extra exciting!

Haven sponsors your were wonderful! Thank you so much!!!

OK I know what you are wanting to know....Would I go again?  YES!!

My question is What about you? Would you go again? If you didn't get there this year are you gonna try for next year??
