French Provincial 6 Drawer Dresser

Love french furniture and applying different painting techniques.
That is what I am known for at my store.
Something I always tried to do also on my blog.

Like when I painted my blue and white dresser!

But now I had a pretty french provincial dresser to makeover.

French Provincial Buffet {two-toned}

Happy fourth of July! I am busy working on a few projects today so no picnicking for me, not to mention it has been over 100 degrees! Staying indoors is fine with me! This is what I finished this week.

There has been a lot of talk around here about my Purdy brushes I won at Haven. Purdy is not new to me though. I have been using them for years, from painting my walls in my home to painting signs in my business. They are the best that I have used and this is NOT a sponsored ad!!! Although I would love for them to call!

One of the ways I love to use them is painting furniture. If you have been here awhile you know there is a lot of that going on! The bristles stay put! Plain and simple! I love the finish of the brush stroke on the furniture.

This is a project I completed this week. A French Provincial Buffet.

It was beautiful when I got it. The curved front and legs are scrumptious!! But..had to paint it!

I wanted a two-toned look for the piece because of the details. I also wanted something neutral so it would sell fast.

I used both a two inch and 1 inch Purdy brush for this project. I use a one inch a lot, even on the big pieces.

I removed hardware. I love the original hardware on this so I left them on. After I painted the door I took my one inch brush and painted the carving in the door and around top to make it pop.

Then I added back the pulls and lightly distressed and waxed the piece.

While I painted a beautiful mistake occurred! Some of the paint crackled! I love when something spontaneous happens like this! It adds such character!

The clear wax was applied all over and then dark wax to the carvings.

I love the look! I also have a hutch and table and chairs that I purchase when I bought this piece. I will not do it as a set so I need to come up with some more ideas for paint color.

Do you ever get stumped on what to paint a piece? The more I do the harder it seems to come up with something!

Enjoy your holiday!

White and Grey Buffet

Ok I can just scream! I thought I took a before picture of this and I can't find it!@!x!

I am freaking out because if you saw it you would have thought I was crazy to buy it. Shoot I thought I was crazy. It sat in my dining room way too long! Every time I passed by I could have kicked myself. WHY DID I BUY THIS!!!!

You all know how long I have been painting furniture, so why does it surprise me every time I paint something and it turns out soooo much better?

Maybe it is the knobs. My love for great knobs is a little extreme but can you blame me? Look at these!!!

I love these Paris Clock Knobs!! I have painted buffets before but this has to be a favorite! I just love to two colors together~

It is on sale now at the Arbor in Franklin Tennessee.  It can be a dresser, a buffet or a TV stand!

Love versatile pieces!

I left the original pulls and just changed the three knobs to give it a little character. So what do you think?

I am getting ready for The Pink Bridal Show this weekend.  We were going to use this....

Isn't this couch to die for? We have used it before in photo shoots. It is a great prop! We loved it but thought it would be to big for the space so we reworked the design. Can't wait to show you!!!

Enjoy your week!!!

Buffet

The BEFORE:

I had this image stuck on the computer and forgot to show it to you. This buffet went with the table and chairs set I wrote about here. I painted it Paris Grey and slightly distressed it.

I kept the original hardware on this one. Sometimes I do that but not often. If you have been around here awhile you know I like my knobs! LOL

This is the after. The day I moved into my new space in Franklin Tennessee. The Arbor! Look at the detailing.

It has sold but I am working on another one that got me thinking that I forgot to show you this one.

This is our garden room at The Arbor. It is ready for some spring goodness!

This is the bathroom that has been converted for the space. Love little cubbies.

This is the other room. The room with a fireplace! It is a mess because I took this on the day we moved in.  I say WE because I share this space with my friend Mary.

There are so many things we are involved in that it helps to share a space or two ;)
It helps us to focus on other opportunities, like designing another bridal show on March 11th!

Spring is here! It is in the 70's today!!!

Paris Grey Buffet {Christmas}

Back in the summer I purchased an old dresser. You know the kind, someone's redo project. The one that doesn't quite look like what they thought it would. So I got lucky.

The problem.....so very heavy.

I actually bought it for the store but when I got it in the house I said "This sucker is staying here!" I just couldn't see lifting it again. It my just go with the house if I ever sell it lol!

The one thing I loved was the carved details. The rest of it had to go! Especially those knobs!
My big plan was to have it all done for Thanksgiving.....yeah well you know how my last few months have been. So out came the tablecloth and I covered it up. Don't judge me!!!lol

Then one night I couldn't stand it any longer. Out came the grey paint and crystal knobs!

So I got a little paint on the floor. That's an easy clean up. There was no way I was gonna move this sucker again! It fits perfect there and goes well with my Christmas Decor! Love the before and after! Especially the after!

What you don't see is that it still has to be waxed! Hee Hee! Gotta love the blogs! Things usually aren't what they seem!

I can't wait to put all the homemade cookies on top of it! .........If I get them baked!
