Bedroom Makeover

Refreshed and Revamped
Great words to use for the new year.

I took a needed break from the store so I could be refreshed and revamped to be more productive this year. I feel very behind but once I get back in the groove it will be creativity city around here.

I started at home to help boost my mood.
I don't know about you but the grey days are too much when you live in a place that celebrates the winter season. This is the time of year when everything looks dull.

I needed a quick fix!

I started in my bedroom. I have a monochromatic look. Too much beige!
I really don't have the time for a complete bedroom makeover. So with a trip to Old Time Pottery and a focus on color and texture, I created a mini makeover by revamping and refreshing an old tired bedroom! It took only 15 minutes.

This can also be called makeover on a budget. Although I rarely buy bed sets in a bag, it was great for this quick fix. I got lucky and found this set during the Old Time Pottery white sale.
Now I have a look that is Revamped and Refreshed for under $50.

Working with textures makes things look richer. This set had 6 pieces. I used the patterns and textures of the pillows and built a pallet. Coordinating some of the hues and placing the colors around the room, made this all come together.

I am sharing this before and after makeover at the Old Time Pottery Blog! You won't believe the difference! I hope you head over and tell me what you think.

Painted Vanity Blue and White

Spring has sprung! We are busy around the store with lots of exciting things going on.
I have been working on the porch and front yard of the store.
We have plants, lawn art and porch furniture available. I love the way it makes everything come alive.

I have been painting a lot!! Loving that also. Doing a furniture class at the store on April 26th. So needless to say, I have been busy. Not too busy to notice the beautiful trees blooming! Yay!

I have written this post several times and I am always pulled away. Its all good though!
So let's talk about a painted vanity. Love vanity details and I have done a lot of them.

So,What's new?

French Provincial 6 Drawer Dresser

Love french furniture and applying different painting techniques.
That is what I am known for at my store.
Something I always tried to do also on my blog.

Like when I painted my blue and white dresser!

But now I had a pretty french provincial dresser to makeover.

Mixing It Up

Funny when you look at pictures you see so much more. I read the other day that a woman takes pictures of herself right before she leaves the house so she can make sure she looks good (she doesn't trust mirrors) not a bad idea maybe I should try it!  Now that I am older I am lucky enough to remember to brush my hair before I leave never mind taking a picture. LOL

One of the things I did notice is that my bedroom is already kinda valentine-y.  Sounds corny but its true.  Its a mix of traditional and contemporary with a splash of romantic. I think everyone needs a space to clear their mind and breathe. This is that space for me.
I love the pops of red against the black and beige.  The tray has a few special items including pictures of the loves of my life, my children(when they were young). This is the room I come up with all my ideas for my artwork. There is something about laying my head down at night that makes my mind race. It is one of those things that is a blessing and a curse.

The blessing is it has kept me in the creative business! I wouldn't know what to do if I couldn't play with colors and ideas. Some inspire and some just add a little warmth to someones life. This painting was one of those things.
Peace and love....we could all use some of that!  So if you would like to order one of these 6x6 paintings just email me. They are $28 plus shipping and handling. Hopefully I will get these custom order paintings and others in an online store soon. I need to manage my time and set a goal. Till then if you are looking for something different for your Valentine let me know.
