Entertainment Cabinet

Every now and again someone finds my store by taking a different route while walking through town.

That is how I sold this entertainment cabinet. The customer stopped in to see if I had a cabinet that could be put on her back porch for all her husbands entertainment paraphernalia. At the time she stopped in we had several different types but nothing that hit her.

Then last week she went walking again. She decide to take another look to see if there was any more. As she rounded the corner, I heard a squeal. This was it.

Painted Hutches

Painted hutches come in all styles and colors. The more creative you can get with paint and finishes the better.
I like to add details. I replace glass sometimes with chicken wire, paint existing hardware, add fabric or paint images on the back. Doing this can take a boring outdated piece of furniture and bring it into a new more fashionable look.

I recently created another one for the store by doing some of the above.

I wanted to show you some of the ones I have done in the past and what I did to achieve the look. Click on the highlighted title below pictures to see how it was done.

This one I had a lot of work to do but it was so worth it!

Audrey Hepburn Wardrobe

Audrey Hepburn is a favorite by all and when I first started blogging I painted a dresser with her on the front. It probably is my favorite project I have done. It got tons of views and comments. All because I hand painted it.

You see that is why I do what I do. i love one of a kind pieces and even when you paint something again it is never the same as the original.

When I opened Dreamingincolor store, I knew she had to grace the room.

I had been given a vanity a long time ago from my sis and painted it to sell. Now when I got the store she gave me the matching wardrobe. As I debated what to paint on her I decided it had to be Audrey Hepburn!

Wooden Box

The problem with painting is you want to do it to everything you own!

I don't paint everything in my home but I have to say it gets tempting.

I know someday this will all be "out of style" and all us "painters" will be "strippers". LOL (no not that kind)

I bought this old wooden box because I knew painting was going to make it better! At one time I am sure it was loved but now it was crying for help.

I really loved the carving on top of this but you could hardly see it.

I painted it lemongrass yellow and highlighted the carving in grey.

I distressed it but it was still to plain for me.

Then the inspiration came from a tin I had.

I love the little bee on the front of it.

So with more grey paint I painted the front of the box.

I distressed the image and highlighted the carvings on each side. Much better!

This was a huge improvement to me!

What do you think?

So now you can use it as a small table, a bench, and storage box! The best part of this is the storage.
Stay tuned for a giveaway! I will finally post tomorrow!!

Painted Wardrobe Closet

I am being featured today for my Spring Nest Tutorial at Not Just A Housewife

This project all started with the knobs! I know that's crazy but its true. I have to admit I had the wardrobe sitting in the garage for quite sometime. It was almost sent to Goodwill several times if my family had anything to do with it! Once again I knew it had potential but there is a time for everything. I purchased the knobs before I even knew where they would go. They have a beautiful home now.

Laying on its side .......

Heres an old picture....

I had the red paint left over from the Hutch Redo. So red it is again! This piece was in pretty bad shape and I am really not done with it. I still have to replace the bottom and back panels and finish painting the inside. I couldn't resist showing the outside!

The inside will be painted in a light grey.

It is hard to see the distressing in the pictures because it is so subtle.

OLD KNOBS YUK!

The knobs!........Did I tell you about the knobs? I love them!

I didn't realize till I put them on that they are hearts. Even better! Remember the wooden ones in the before picture?

I love the mirrors on this too! (except you can see my mess through them)

This is not in its permanent space because I am still working on it. It always amazes me how much better these pieces look with a coat of paint. It becomes an addiction. I am looking through the house wondering if I should paint something else! I need to start selling this stuff in a store so my house won't look like one!

Did I tell you I love the knobs?
