Christmas Mantle

The giveaway is still going on so please enter here! This is one of the cutest gifts and I am so glad to share it with you!

My Christmas mantle is traditional. Remember I like the red with my colored walls and all the sparkle and magic that Christmas brings.

I waited years to have a house with a fireplace! There is just something that feels like Christmas when it is burning.

I actually had a mantle made in my other house so I could hang stockings on it at Christmas. I now hangs over my entryway.
And I have to have my topiaries.

I guess you can say I have an obsession with them.

Santa"s sleigh and reindeer with white lights finish the top

and yesterday I showed you something that was used in a store display well the drum below was another thing my friend Donna gave me. She got it from a store! To me they are some of my favorite decorations. Mainly because I don't see it in everyone's home.

There is a different stocking for each of us. Our animals have some too! They hang in another room.

I am starting to feel the warmth of Christmas....Can you?

I am bummed because my lights went out on my tree so I will be buying more. I hate fooling with lights, they are always a pain! So a shopping I will go!

It is supposed to snow today! Love shopping for Christmas when it is cold. Keeps me in the spirit!

The Start of Christmas Decorating

Before you read on please go enter my birthday giveaway HERE! For my distressed WISH sign that is in my ETSY store!

Well I finally got a chance to start decorating. Around here it takes a couple of days to get it all up. I go a little overboard but I love Christmas to be bright and sparkly! I started with my staircase.

I love to decorate the catwalk with big balls and green garland. Then lights. Tiny red lights just to give a glow up above us.

Here is something that is really different. One year I asked a store if I could have their display when Christmas was over. It was a hanging curtain of beads and crystal snowflakes. They were happy to give it to me so they didn't have to throw it away. THROW IT AWAY! Can you believe that? What a waste of something beautiful! But not this time, I got it!

I brought it home and took off each strand to use in my decorating. I wish you could see it in person because it sparkles so bright.

I hang the big balls from the spindles to hang below at variegated lengths.

Like I said you can't even get the real feel or look of it in a picture. Or maybe it is my bad camera skills ...not sure.

I just like the way it brings the whole living room together. This is just the beginning!! Lots more to do.

Lots of traditional colors in the living room. Red, Green. Gold, and  Silver. The color red really pops against the beige walls. So it is the prominent color I work with. The dining room will be silver.
Gotta get to work! Have a great day!!!

Black Antique Buffet and Giveaway

I found the most adorable buffet with curvy legs. I sat it in my kitchen to get an idea of what I wanted to do with it. It had a kind of appeal to it. I even used it as is for Thanksgiving. When my friend saw it she said she had to have it. Her request was black paint.

Whoops never take a picture in front of a window.....

But you know it needed some bling...
Of course crystal knobs had to adorn it!

Another favorite.....

I am going to hate to see it go...but I will make room for something else.

Let it go on record that I am putting my tree up today! Yay! Finally have a little time.

Black Painted Hutch

Seems like painting furniture is all I am doing lately but I guess that is a good thing. It means I am selling it!

During my move to the new store, I wanted to add some new pieces to my space. I had a hutch that needed some redo. I knew it would look great painted and changed up. Something for display with the holidays approaching.

The before! Bad nighttime pictures but you get the gist of it.

I painted with a black latex paint and added some great knobs.

Love the finish on this piece.

This made a great statement in my booth. I love decorating hutches. There are so many ways to utilize the space.

Ready to be in someone's home. I need to sell it now to make space for all the great furniture I just purchased for my space.

Today my friend Mary moves into her new space in the front of La Vie En Rose and I will be helping!! She is so creative I hope you all come and check out her booth. (Located in Lenox Village Nashville Tennessee).

Tomorrow is my birthday and I will have something very special on the blog to celebrate. Hint Hint!!!

I hope you all are getting ready for the holidays! I can't wait to see what everyone is up to. I will have some crafts going up soon too for all of you to try. Can't believe December is here already!!

Painted Cabinet

If you have been on my blog before I love trying new things. I have bought a piece of furniture before that I have added beautiful papers to. My red bird hutch, for example.

The same day I bought the paper for the hutch I also bought a paris postcard paper that I fell in love with. With the open house around the corner I knew this would make a great statement in the store.

I went with red again because of Christmas. It is such a cute cabinet that would look good in a bathroom or kitchen.....shoot it would look good anywhere!

It was pretty grungy and dull but we all know that is why we paint!! This piece has the perfect storage and the glass doors add some elegance to it. I knew I needed the perfect knobs. You know me and my knobs lol! I found a rustic Fleur de Les knob to use.

I painted a dark grey to the inside of the whole cabinet. Added the paper like I did with my red hutch and waxed to finish it off. Wish I could say that it was easy but the weather did not cooperate. Next time I will not do it with extreme temperature. I took a lot longer than I anticipated and when there is a deadline that leads to ton of stress.

All and all I think it came out adorable. It now graces the window!

Love how the color just transforms the piece. Don't you just love the little postcards and stamps!

So much fun to add something different!
