Snap Swap Party

In a few weeks I will be on a plane flying to Utah with my friend Michele from The Scrap Shoppe! I am super excited to be attending my second blog conference! It is the first time I will be attending SNAP and the first time visiting Utah.

To get to know some of the people that will be there, a couple of us have joined together in a craft swap.

I am partnered with Laura from The Shed blog. She will also be at SNAP this year.

The direction we were given said we had to go into our craft junk supplies and gather things we wanted to send to our partner. Go to the thrift store and pick out something they could use as a project.

We emailed a few times to get to know each other's likes. Some things she likes are cats, music, vintage ephemera, and mod podge to name a few. It was hard to know what to send. I had fun getting things together though and shopping was great! You will have to check out all the goodies I packed up and sent to her.

These are the goodies I received from Laura....

She sent me beautiful papers, vintage lace binding and a vintage wooden pedestal bowl.

Since my favorite thing to do is paint, I saw a paint project in my future!

I used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Antibes and gold acrylic to accent.

After painting the colors I sanded and scuffed the paint.

I wanted to give it an old look but add a sophisticated feel . I added clear and dark wax.
Then I used some of that beautiful paper and mod-podged it to the inside of the bowl.

Such a pretty accessory! A fresh new piece.

The best part is I made a new friend and a have this piece to remind me of her! Thanks Laura for the goodies and the challenge. I can't wait to meet you for real in Utah!

Toxic Vintage Bottle

Halloween is fast approaching and I am ready for some spooky fun! I think it is one of the most creative holidays. I didn't get into it as much this year but I did managed to pull off some things.

I bought some vintage brown bottles awhile back and I knew they would look great with some labels from The Graphics Fairy!

Who could resist some arsenic and lace!

I just love these little bottles. Great for decorating! I just modpodged these little babies!

It has just the right creepiness for Halloween! I put them at Blackberry House so check them out! Also check out the new holiday hours!!

I will be doing a Vintage Halloween fest at The Art Barn in Rockvale Tennessee! Hope the weather holds out for us! So if you live here come out and enjoy the fun! For kids of all ages!!

Red Painted Hutch with Birds

It all started on the 84 mile yard sale. My last stop was in Leiper's Fork. I had remembered stopping at Serenite Mason before and seeing such wonderful papers! I knew I had to go buy some as I passed through.

It was the sweetest bird/postage stamp/french paper I had ever seen! I loved it! This became my inspiration for my new hutch.

Well new isn't the correct word! It looked like this when I got it.

It needed some work but lucky for me that's what I like to do! See those doors? Remember them!
I painted this hutch red. I know I have done a painted red hutch before but that one is mine. Although it will be hard to part with this one, it is going to The Three French Hens for our Christmas Open House on Nov 5th! So if you like it come on down and see what else we got or better yet you can purchase this one!

I did something different with this one. I put it in the bathroom. WHAT?
Yes I love it in there because of all the storage.

You can put all your lotions and potions on the shelves.

All your handmade soaps and bath crystals

The fun for me came with those doors. Always striving to do something different then what I have seen, I began to mod podge the beautiful paper I bought to the front of the doors!

I am in LOVE!!!
Then I antiqued the paper so it wouldn't look so new by staining it around the outside and some in the middle.

Isn't this paper to die for? I am so glad I remembered it! It totally transformed this piece.
And then.......I added some hand painted knobs to the the drawers and doors.

LOVE AGAIN!!!

Vintage Cologne Bottle

Remember this Graphics Fairy print?
I used in on my clip board makeover

Well this is what I intended to do with it.....

I had an old bottle that I thought would work perfectly.

I mod podged the graphic to the front of the bottle and added crinkle binding and antique lace

The cap was kind of plain so I sprayed some glue adhesive to the top and dipped it in lavender

I found a silk flower and hot glued it to the top of the lavender

The finished bottle

I can't wait to find some more old bottles. I just love the way it came out.
When you sniff the silk flower you smell wonderful lavender......mmmm
