Painted Antique Wardrobe

Wardrobes like these are hard to find. When I do find them I am amazed how beautiful they look when painted. The details show up so much more and the refreshed look makes them desirable.
I have painted a few antique wardrobes now and like any piece I do, I have to ponder about the way I decide to paint it.
Like this Audrey Hepburn one.
I want something different.
Something that isn't all over Pinterest.
Something artistic...

So I started painting this piece. I used Country Chic paint in Harmony and vanilla frosting. I added stripes with painter's tape and had to do some touch up when I pulled the tape off but all and all I love the way it came out. Paint really makes the piece come to life. All colors are fun. It just has to fit to me like my red wardrobe I painted.

Staging a Master Bedroom

I have been missing for a while. Life has been crazy. My husband has been in the hospital again. This time it was a hernia surgery turned into an emergency surgery. He is home healing.
Needless-to-say that has kept me from doing much needed things!

One thing I did manage to do with all the craziness is take a home staging course!
I felt like it would enhance the design and redesign services offered at Dreamingincolor.

At the end of the course we staged a home going on the market for sale. This was one of the bedrooms I staged.

Painted Snowman Pillow

I think I have a tiny obsession!
I love pillows.

If you could see my closet, you would understand.

No, I am not going to show you THAT picture.
I have them lined on a shelf organized by color! I know ....crazy...

Then I started painting some.....
Like my bunny and pumpkin pillows.

Now I have done a quick Christmas one.

Living Room Reveal For Fall

I am so excited to be showing you my living room finally.

It all started with my tufted Sofa. Then I created the Inexpensive way to decorate a blank wall.

I went into this redesign wanting to break a few rules.

I think decorating should be what you want and love and not what someone tells you it HAS to be.

So I played around with placement, vintage and modern decor and a little bit of freebies I had laying inside and outside my home!

I had a few problems like light, a huge tv and an animal that kept photobombing!!

Moss Birds

Everyone loves birds. We have seen them all over the blogs created in many different ways. Last year I launched several bird ornaments in my Etsy shop. They were a big hit at Christmas and I sold a lot at Sales I was involved in too.

I have had different ones this year. The are moss covered. There are adorable for anytime of the year and great to put on packages.

For Bella Rustica I wanted to incorporate these birds and owls. My daughter gave me an idea to make them bigger. I had others say the same. So I listened and made some birds to put on walls or doors.  They are approximately 15" wide x 10" tall. They are all wood too!

I now have these in my Etsy Shop!! They to were a big hit at Bella Rustica!!

They come with the words Blessed, Family or Soar! They can be customized too with words you choose like "Welcome"

Let me know what you think. If you like them they make a great gift too!

Snap Swap Party

In a few weeks I will be on a plane flying to Utah with my friend Michele from The Scrap Shoppe! I am super excited to be attending my second blog conference! It is the first time I will be attending SNAP and the first time visiting Utah.

To get to know some of the people that will be there, a couple of us have joined together in a craft swap.

I am partnered with Laura from The Shed blog. She will also be at SNAP this year.

The direction we were given said we had to go into our craft junk supplies and gather things we wanted to send to our partner. Go to the thrift store and pick out something they could use as a project.

We emailed a few times to get to know each other's likes. Some things she likes are cats, music, vintage ephemera, and mod podge to name a few. It was hard to know what to send. I had fun getting things together though and shopping was great! You will have to check out all the goodies I packed up and sent to her.

These are the goodies I received from Laura....

She sent me beautiful papers, vintage lace binding and a vintage wooden pedestal bowl.

Since my favorite thing to do is paint, I saw a paint project in my future!

I used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Antibes and gold acrylic to accent.

After painting the colors I sanded and scuffed the paint.

I wanted to give it an old look but add a sophisticated feel . I added clear and dark wax.
Then I used some of that beautiful paper and mod-podged it to the inside of the bowl.

Such a pretty accessory! A fresh new piece.

The best part is I made a new friend and a have this piece to remind me of her! Thanks Laura for the goodies and the challenge. I can't wait to meet you for real in Utah!

Rabbit Pillow

One Easter my kids were determined to catch the Easter Bunny.

At that time, my son was into maps and building things. He sat down and sketched different ideas out on paper to figure out how he would do it.

That week my son and daughter built a cardboard box contraption! He raised it up and leaned it on a stick with a string attached. They were so excited to catch him.

That year the Easter bunny got away but left them with a big stuffed rabbit and a note saying better luck next time!

Seems the Easter bunny has a sense of humor!

The next year they did the same and the Easter bunny left them a real rabbit!!

The loved him!

It got me thinking that I wanted to paint a rabbit. Not just any painting.....I decided to paint a pillow.

It is nice to paint. I never get tired of all the ways I can add it to my decor. Hand painting a pillow is great because I know no one has it. It is an original!

I took these pictures at night. I don't like doing that but the sun left before I could snap the pictures.

The was something I wanted to do. I wanted to put it in the sun room. You see when I sit in there I am surrounded by bunnies. Real bunnies hopping everywhere!

I wrote about it when I made my delicious Easter Cocoa Nests.

I look out of the window and watch them every spring and into summer.

I

It is more fitting sitting on the sofa.

It is great to decorate for Easter but I think this pillow can be used anytime.

Maybe I should offer him a pinecone carrot!

I think painting more pillows may be in my future!

Animal Paintings and more

Do you ever feel like projects never end?

 I move from one

to another

to another.

At least I have a theme going.

..................painting..............

I painted an animal painting again. This time of my baby.

I think it was even harder because I wanted to get some of his personality.

I wanted to show how much love he has.

I wanted to show how much he adores us in his eyes.

I started with a picture...

I love his sweet lips and whiskers

I am really enjoying painting the portraits. It is another way to be creative. Painting has come and gone with me throughout the years. So glad it has stuck around this time.

To be honest the first one I did, I hated. I had it all wrong. He looked so much older and I had the wrong colors.

I know what you are saying...."He is a black dog how hard can it be?"

Believe me I think they are harder to paint. Any of my painting buddies agree?

So here he is....

It isn't perfect but no painting is. Best part is the family loves it and thinks it is!

I love a happy ending...

REMEMBER: If you want one of your pet, you can order HERE... you can also see another painting I did.

Then I painted one of my favorite pieces of furniture to date. I cannot wait to show you!

I am also thinking of painting my living room too. I found a couch I want and will probably order tonight.

So much to do so little time.

..........And I finally called a travel agent to get info on my trip!! Breathe.....Breathe......Breathe.......

Nest

Beautiful isn't it? The beach is always a great place to get wonderful pictures. This one looks like a postcard. I am back from my two week vacation. Back to reality. I have to say reality isn't that bad when you have had a break from it!!

Without boring you with many pictures and vacation posts I will end my trip with my favorite new store to find wonderful items, Nest 30A.

When I read the sign on the front of the building I knew I had to check it out. I mean who wouldn't be inquisitive with the name Nest.

The front porch was adorned with goodies to intrigue you to enter.

I was greeted by their furry baby (wish I got a picture of him) and by the owner Ali.

Her and her husband just moved to Florida from Birmingham. They opened this dream store recently.

Love the cubbies on this piece! The store was spilling over with fab furniture, accessories and art.

This cart was amazing. Made from reclaimed wood. Look at those wheels!!

Nice mirror reflecting the store and the little bird art was adorable.

This was one of my favorite pieces and don't you just love that big bottle on top and the floor mirrors that stood by its side.... wow!

All of the pieces were tagged with their signature tags, that Ali was proud to say, her husband created.

I love the atmosphere and friendly attitude. They were so welcoming and excited to show off their little piece of paradise. Everything was beautiful. The prices were great too! I am sure they will prosper in this location.

So if you are near 30A Seaside, Grayton Beach or any of the beautiful surrounding areas go check them out! I promise you won't be disappointed. 1414 County Highway 283 South, Unit C, Grayton Beach, FL.

For more great pictures go check out their Facebook page.

Thanks again Ali for the fabulous tour and the great shopping!!
