Baking Utensil Organizer

I don't have a lot of cabinets and drawers in my kitchen. This means I have got to be organized and make sure I keep only the things I need and use.

I don't like plastic organizers for my utensils. Last year I came up with an idea using paint sticks for my silverware. Since then that post "Utensil Organizer" continues to be the most viewed post I have ever done. Funny really. It was free and easy! ...and I used PAINTSTICKS!!!

Since that post I have learned some things. So I decided to create a new improved one for my Baking Utensils. I love the way everything has a place. I don't mind if anyone sees my drawers now. Hee Hee!

I started out with my free paintsticks that I collect from hardware stores. I like the big ones.

I painted them to add some color to the inside. I can always change this if I like a different color. The glory of paint!

Then I gathered all the baking utensils that I use most often. I placed them where I wanted them to go inside the drawer. Then I measured for placement of the paint sticks.

I wanted all my measuring cups and spoons in one area. So I used the biggest cup and lined it up where I wanted to put the stick.

I measured and and mark where to cut with my hand saw.

I only needed to make a few cuts then I glued them with monkey glue. NOTE: I used hot glue with my utensil organizer but after time I would have to re-glue so I went to the monkey glue. I also decided to glue the whole structure into the drawer for more stability.

Looking in through the back of drawer. All pieces connected.

I added a tea cup for the tiny pieces to stay in place like my cake decorating tips.

Then I added the rest of the baking utensils to the drawer.

This is definitely the new and improved organizer! I love the color and how it all fits perfectly!

I have the prettiest drawers in town! Pun intended! :)

I met so many amazing bloggers this year and became very close to some that I have not even met!

Your all-time favorite project was my Utensil Drawer Organizer! It still cracks me up since it is made from paint sticks!

My favorite craft project was my Ticket Sign! It led to me opening up an Etsy Shop!

This is a Golden Ticket but the most popular is the original one in my Etsy Shop!

Utensil Drawer Organizer

I am really excited about this project. Anytime you can do something for free that excites me! If it excites you go over to the sidebar on this page and press that FOLLOW button! I love looking for new ideas to show you!

I have been collecting paint sticks from Home Depot and Lowes for awhile because in my crazy mind I figured I can make something with them...... and.... well..... they are free!

As I was putting the forks and spoons back in the drawer the light bulb went off in my head. I really hate the plastic organizer I have in the drawer separating all the utensils.

What if I use the paint sticks and make my own dividers?

I started out with these.....

I drew up a plan of how I wanted this to be laid out in the drawer and measured and marked each stick. With a handsaw I cut to size. I didn't want it to be permanently attached to the drawer so I can clean the bottom if it gets dirty. So I made it to come out. I cut the pieces and glued each one.

I lined the drawer with shelving paper. This is a clear non-stick roll of a rubber liner.

After measuring and cutting the liner to fit, I placed the paint stick form into the drawer. Now it looks custom and did I mention it was FREE!!!!

BEFORE......

AFTER........

I loved this project! I think I will do the rest of the drawers too! I even got more space out of it to store even more!!!  And I think I will continue saving the sticks! I have some more ides for them!
