Haven and Dreamingincolor {Third Time Is A Charm}

Funny how you can do something again and again and wind up with different results.
That's what happens every year I go to Haven.

I have been going to Haven for three years! The first year I went was the first year Haven was started. I had met Rhoda when we were shooting a pilot for HGTV and she told me about her vision.
I knew that it would be a good fit for me. I had a lot to learn though. I never had been to a blogging conference and didn't know what to do. I thought the vendors like Ryobi, Home Depot, and Kregg were there to sell me something or just wanted my info to send me tons of emails. Boy was I wrong!  I quickly learned that the vendors that came were there to work with bloggers. They knew that social media was the place to put their efforts. Bloggers can really be a voice!
That started a whole new world for me. I knew that season 2 would be making relationships with my favorites. Ryobi being my number one!

Ryobi has been so kind to me. They really want to work with us. They appreciate what we do. They know how to have fun too!

Fireplace Screen

When I opened my store Dreamingincolor, I wanted to be able to offer unique and creative handmade items. Something that sets us apart.

Something that showcases my art and others.

That is why I loved working on this project.

I like combining different pieces together to form an art piece. Like when I used an antique table leg seen here.

It is my funky junk that helped create this piece!

Haven Conference {The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly}

Just got back from the Haven Conference in Atlanta. I spent 4 days at the Hyatt in Buckhead with some of the most creative talented women and (some men) that I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I am ready to buy next years ticket!

I met up with some friends I regularly talk to on Facebook. It was so great to finally meet them in person.
Kirby, Karen  and Lorraine.. she happened to be my roommate.

NO Sew Drapery Cornices

Do you ever notice that when spring and summer comes around, we are all ready to refresh our homes?

Even colors need to be changed to change the mood we are feeling.

 I decided that I wanted to change the colors of my bedroom to a more spring/summer look. Although I show a lot of vintage inspired furniture around here, my bedroom is a more European/contemporary feel. I like mixing things and I appreciate all styles.

 My bedroom walls are beige and there is a lot of black in the furniture and fabrics I chose. The winter color I use is red. Now I want a blue! So I will be adding blue accents but keeping my drapes neutral.

For now! This is a quick easy solution! No sew!! My type of project. This is how they turned out!
Continue to see how it is done!

Utensil Drawer Organizer

I am really excited about this project. Anytime you can do something for free that excites me! If it excites you go over to the sidebar on this page and press that FOLLOW button! I love looking for new ideas to show you!

I have been collecting paint sticks from Home Depot and Lowes for awhile because in my crazy mind I figured I can make something with them...... and.... well..... they are free!

As I was putting the forks and spoons back in the drawer the light bulb went off in my head. I really hate the plastic organizer I have in the drawer separating all the utensils.

What if I use the paint sticks and make my own dividers?

I started out with these.....

I drew up a plan of how I wanted this to be laid out in the drawer and measured and marked each stick. With a handsaw I cut to size. I didn't want it to be permanently attached to the drawer so I can clean the bottom if it gets dirty. So I made it to come out. I cut the pieces and glued each one.

I lined the drawer with shelving paper. This is a clear non-stick roll of a rubber liner.

After measuring and cutting the liner to fit, I placed the paint stick form into the drawer. Now it looks custom and did I mention it was FREE!!!!

BEFORE......

AFTER........

I loved this project! I think I will do the rest of the drawers too! I even got more space out of it to store even more!!!  And I think I will continue saving the sticks! I have some more ides for them!
