Cats

Cats are peculiar. Sometimes sneaky and suspicious. Sometimes happy and sometimes grumpy.

We have been around quit a few. Each one has its own personality.

I love seeing all the funny clips about cats on YouTube.

As an artist, I love the variations of colors and those wondrous eyes. I have painted my first cat painting from a photo.

As I painted it I kept thinking of all those funny America's Funniest Video moments of cats falling off of counters and sliding into doors.

I wondered if just for a moment I could capture some sort of personality on the canvas.

This was by far the hardest painting I have done.

I keep pressing on

I love painting animals Remember the dogs I did here and here

Maybe next time I will paint some of those infamous cows.....

Oh and see that Union Jack?

That is my piano bench that just sold!

See whether is is painting canvas or furniture, it is all using creativity and talent that God gave me.

That feeds my soul and makes me happy. I feel blessed to be sharing it with you.

I want to thank I'm Not A Trophy Wife for featuring my White Buffet!

Thanks for entering my Facebook Giveaway!! You still have time! I will draw tonight!

Painted Canvas Valances

Creating a space that represents me, by using what I already have, is what I am trying to accomplish. Let's face it, an office or craft room requires a lot of work! Separating, purging and designing a space that is not only pretty but workable. I mean, I have to make a mess!! That is how I create! When I get this craft room done I will be able to have a place to put my mess in order.

I am doing this whole space with things I already own. I got the sign up and now the curtains need to get up. I had it all in my mind of what I wanted and then changed it. A woman's prerogative, right? I wanted something different, something that expressed me. I decided to paint a couple of canvases. I was going to paint it like the fabric curtains I wanted till I spoke to my friend Lesley from The Homeless Finch. She said, "Paint something different. If you are going to paint a curtain just buy a curtain." My phone call with her got me thinking! She was right! She inspired me! I did want something I haven't seen anywhere else. Something that adds to my style! Boy, did I do something different!

This is a series of two abstract paintings titled The Dream Begins Since the blog name is dreamingincolor I wanted the painting to represent the dream. Starting with black and white and grey and gradually adding color. Too much info? LOL

 Series I

Series II

There is more color and less black, white and grey, The dream is starting to become.

Since it is the beginning of the dream there are only two colors blue and coral...the colors in my room

I love the way they work in the space! I know its not for everyone but think of something that would work for you. Just paint and hang above your window. You could tape off a pattern like a chevron, paint stripes, even florals, Give it a try. These two canvases were only $22. I keep many in stock and buy on sale or with coupons. Not bad for two windows!

The space is coming along. Lots and Lots of work to do!! Hope you enjoyed the sneak peek!

Easy Metal Flower Frames {tutorial}

With Christmas six months away yes I said it gift making is on the brain. Some things can be used anytime of the year. Picture frames are always popular.. I have done a few here on my blog like my pine cone Shabby Chic picture frames.

While on a trip to the dollar store I came across colorful metal flower hooks. I thought they would be cute if I painted them. Remember chalk paint goes on virtually everything! Then I could hang these in my wannabe craft room!

When I took them home a light bulb went off. I love the hand cut metal flowers that adorn picture frames, but they are a lot of work. What if I could use these? They needed to be changed up a bit though.

First thing to go was the middle piece. Cut with a wire cuter.

Next cut off the back hook. You will need some muscle for this one!

The flower will look like this. I did a pink and yellow one. Remember you can paint any color you want!

Now they look boring like this so I fluffed up the petals by bending them forward.

Here is one of the yellow ones. I love that the flowers look like the old Italian chandelier I repainted!

Grab a canvas. Rip off the canvas and you have a wooden frame. A great idea in itself! Many possibilities. You can find them cheap at bargain stores. They are all wood. Add some paint!

Now to attach the flower. I found these really cool concrete nails. They will become the stamen.

Hammer on to the corner of the frame or wherever you see fit.

Attach eye hooks to the inside of frame on either side. Twist wire through to hang photos on.

Or you can just use it as a frame. Either way it is a cute gift for any occasion.

Can you think of other ways these can be used?

Flower Series

Painting is a huge part of my life and I have had a blast with all the new creations. The pink flower I painted the other day got a lot of comments even though there were no posts here. Everyone called it a happy painting. Well, I couldn't resist to do another happy springlike painting.

This is part of the flower series.

As you view these take a moment to scroll down and press the comment button and let me know what you think!

The two look great hung together or apart.  The are both 12x12 Acrylics. I just love the vibrant colors!

I think I should call this happy art!
