Shabby Chic picture Frames

I had a wonderful weekend enjoying the beauty of fall. The trees are turning and winter will soon peek its little head out. Christmas is in the stores before we can even "Give Thanks" at Thanksgiving! To me there is one little thing that says fall all over it.

Pinecones! They dress up mantles and get filled in vases. Some even get painted.

Mine got cut! Many many pieces of pine cones.

I recently purchased some antique frames that I painted and distressed. I added some pine cone flowers to decorate the corner. I think these will make a great gift. For Christmas maybe I will tie a red velvet ribbon around the frame to hang it from.

I painted some old frames in old white and waxed and distressed them

I added flower pine cones to the frames

I even made some small ones to go with the large one
Frames are always a great gift. This just has that little somethin'

I think it is a great project to do for Christmas but any time will do! A gift for any occasion!

Pottery Barn Inspired Halloween Tombstone Chalkboard

Before I get started I just want to remind you of the giveaway! All because I value my readers!

Pottery Barn is a start for a lot of inspired creations. We love thumbing through the catalog or clicking on images over the computer. When October hit I knew it was time to change my decor into something spooky. I started with my mantle. It went from Fall to Spooky Halloween! I will reveal this on Friday.

In the mean time, I will show you how a little inspiration from Pottery Barn started me with an idea for my mantle change.

I recreated one of the pictures they had. I have a painting I did hanging over my mantle. There are beautiful warm colors in it that really stand out with my fall decor. But when I changed to Halloween it really didn't go.

It all was based on this guy.

The Headless Horseman....da da da daaaa!

I have a little trick that I have used before. I cover the painting instead of taking it down. It is fun to change things up with this technique.

I started with my painting.

I then bought some poster board in black and spray painted it with chalkboard paint.

I pieced together what was needed to cover the painting.

I then found some old barn wood that was needed to replicate the picture.

I wrote on it with black Sharpie.

"Watch Your Heads"

I then wrote with white chalk like the Pottery Barn Picture.
Because my picture frame was shaped differently, I changed mine to fit better.

I omitted the "Welcome" and just wrote "To Sleepy Hollow"

I placed the board inside the frame and added some spider webs.

It is the perfect background for my spooky mantle.

I love the way it came out and how easy it was to do.

Oh yeah! Can't forget the cost.
