Wine Corkscrew Wall Art

I am so happy that Danni from Silo Hill Farm, has agreed to help me while I am away! I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I have! She is such a sweetheart!

Please Welcome Danni!

If you ask me to do a guest post for you, I'm most likely going to say "yes", depending on your time frame.  I'm also going to browse your blog, learn as much about you as I can and then do a project that I think somehow relates to you.  I might also talk about alcohol (unless you specifically tell me not to).
When Deneen asked me to do a guest post, it was pretty easy because I was lucky enough to meet her last July when I was in Tennessee.  She was delightful and we had a marvelous time.  I knew that she was a fabulous furniture painter.  I knew that she loved all things Italian.  I knew that she was going to Italy soon.
I decided to make a piece of wall art for this guest post that incorporated those facts.  I chose a wine corkscrew silhouette project.

Animal Paintings and more

Do you ever feel like projects never end?

 I move from one

to another

to another.

At least I have a theme going.

..................painting..............

I painted an animal painting again. This time of my baby.

I think it was even harder because I wanted to get some of his personality.

I wanted to show how much love he has.

I wanted to show how much he adores us in his eyes.

I started with a picture...

I love his sweet lips and whiskers

I am really enjoying painting the portraits. It is another way to be creative. Painting has come and gone with me throughout the years. So glad it has stuck around this time.

To be honest the first one I did, I hated. I had it all wrong. He looked so much older and I had the wrong colors.

I know what you are saying...."He is a black dog how hard can it be?"

Believe me I think they are harder to paint. Any of my painting buddies agree?

So here he is....

It isn't perfect but no painting is. Best part is the family loves it and thinks it is!

I love a happy ending...

REMEMBER: If you want one of your pet, you can order HERE... you can also see another painting I did.

Then I painted one of my favorite pieces of furniture to date. I cannot wait to show you!

I am also thinking of painting my living room too. I found a couch I want and will probably order tonight.

So much to do so little time.

..........And I finally called a travel agent to get info on my trip!! Breathe.....Breathe......Breathe.......

Valentine Art {Love Gifts}

Last year I got this idea when I was out shopping. It was going to be a knock off decor project. I wrote it down but never did it. I do that a lot. Do you? I have lots of ideas but sometimes they never come to be.

Not today. Today was different. Probably because it was raining this morning when I started this, or maybe because I found a Christmas heart ornament left out that got my wondering what I can make with it so I didn't have to pull out the box it was supposed to go in!!

So that's when it happened.....I remembered the project. These days that is quite an accomplishment since I don't remember what I just said

I combined an old handwritten graphic from The Graphic Fairy and a my handwritten chalk print.

If you want to create this for your home or a gift, I have a tutorial for you below

I started with a piece of foam core and cut a square in shape of my frame. NOTE: Make sure you score the board before you cut all the way through and use a sharp knife. My mistake was not changing my blade! So don't look too close.lol

I painted the front with Annie Sloan Graphite paint.

When it dries use a piece of chalk to cure the board. Do this on all hand painted chalkboards
before you write on them.

After this is done wipe with a cloth. Now you are ready to write on it. I chose the word "Amour" I wrote in different fonts. I didn't trace or use anything to make it perfect. I wanted it to look natural.

I downloaded this graphic from The Graphic Fairy.

I love the old style poem. The cupid goes with my Valentine theme.

I glued it to the back of the board.

I then glued a paper clip to the top as my hanger,

You can cover the back with pretty paper to give it a finished look.

Then I applied my "orphaned ornament" with E6000 to the center of the graphic.

I love that it had a little sparkle to it and the glass gave it a higher end look.

This didn't cost my anything to make because I had all of this on hand. I hope you give it a try! I have it sitting on my mantle right now deciding if I should keep it.

I think it would be sweet to paint something on the heart. Someone's name perhaps....

How are you "Giving Your Heart Away"?
