We have been really busy around here redoing furniture of all types custom painting and upholstery With all the beautiful fabrics available today, my clients have been able to really find some beauties. 

Dreamingincolor is a full service home store when it comes to design. I like to have people that I can tap into for various projects when I design. When a client need upholstery they send me a picture and I tell them how much fabric to purchase and how much to upholster it. We do everything for the home. Cushions and pillows, Wingbacks and dining chairs, Sofas and Settees just to name a few.

Some of our upholstery have been done with velvets, leather, muslin, upholstery fabrics. Tufting, tucks, and channel backs. Below are some for you to look at. Peacock Chairs

One of the best things about my business is when I get to turn something that would have normally been trashed into something that is treasure.

Old pieces brought to life!

These peacock chairs were part of that process.

A customer brought them into Dreamingincolor for upholstery and to have them restore. They had found the chairs in their grandmothers barn. The wood was all dried out and a little water damaged. There were dirt nests on the bottom and no fabric remained.

This chair was the before. The before with lots of potential. It will soon become a gorgeous peacock chair.

The after was breathtaking! Take a look!

Upholstery in Tennessee

It is really hard to find someone that does upholstery. It is even harder to find someone that does it well. I am proud to announce the Dreamingincolor now offers upholstery in Tennessee. Murfreesboro residence and beyond have been eager to get there furniture pieces renewed. So glad we can offer that here.

We have done quite a few in a short time. I would like to show you a couple. This settee is from the 1800's. It had horse hair in the seat and was very crunchy. Ha! We painted the wood to reveal the carvings and totally redid the upholstery and filling.

This was another piece from the 1800's. It was missing the whole bottom. This upholstery is tufted with covered buttons on back. All restored and beautiful.

This chair is a personal favorite. I love the brass nail heads used to accentuate the curves. This chair was painted in Driftwood, The Ikat looking material really brings it up to date.

These are just a few of the pieces that have been restored. The upholstery took it to the present and would make any home look custom.

Curio Cabinet

Been so busy at the store I haven't been able to get a post out but when this piece came along I thought you might be interested in the transformation.

I repurpose furniture for a living.

Why then do I still get so surprised at the after?

This curio cabinet came to me as someone's craft project gone bad. I know that is relative but it was bad in my book.

It was spray painted blue. A pretty blue but still not done well...drips and things in the paint.....

The bad part was the vintage recipes glued to the back.

I would have loved that, but they added magazines and colored paper and it was just a design mess!!

Honestly the before picture doesn't look as bad as it really was.

I added a little knob, paint and beautiful fabric to update the look.

Painted Chair

Got this chair on a little trip to the Goodwill. I lived the lines and carvings so much I had to get it. I really never painted a chair before but thought it couldn't be to hard.

I have to say I learned a couple of things. First of all I thought because they are fairly small that they would be fast and easy..... um....NO.....

Too many pieces. Reminds me of painting molding it goes on and on and on.

The other thing I learned is how a color can change when you use stain and glaze. I started out with a light blue and ended up with a little more green. It didn't really matter this time because there was no specific reason for the color, but I did learn something!

This is what I started with

There was one area that needed work, the footrail was chewed by a dog.

So I got some wood putty and worked on it. The glory of distressing is nothing has to be perfect! People want it to look beat up. Lets face it they have taken chains to beat furniture and knives to scratch it up a little ole dog just gives it some texture lol.

After filling and sanding I painted it with a skyward blue. Pretty color I will use again!

It was way to windy so I had to work on it inside.

Isn't that color pretty? Yeah well say goodbye to it! I started glazing to bring out the details and began to stain it.

I sanded to give it a more worn out look. Then I reupholstered the chair pad in a pretty fabric.
This wasn't the intended fabric because of the color change but all in all I like the way it came out!
