Fairy Garden Centerpiece

Adding a little spring to my home after winter is so important to me. I long for the flowers and colors after the cold snow and bare trees. One of the special parts of spring to me is looking out my window in my sun room and watching the baby rabbits play. I watch them throughout the summer as they grow.

I usually start decorating as soon as Valentine's Day is over. I start introducing spring and rabbits to my decor. I keep rabbits out all year but gather them for a collected look for Easter.

Creating a new centerpiece every year that is different from the last is always a challenge. This year I decided to bring the outdoors in with a Fairy Garden Spring Centerpiece. I haven't really created a fairy garden. I did however showcase my friend's fairy garden. I loved it. So with a little twist to the norm I created this one.

Fairy garden accessories in baskets for a centerpiece is a little twist.

Filling the top of the basket with styrofoam will allow for the grass patch and fairy garden picks to be added. It also fills the area to raise everything to the top.

There are many miniature pieces to choose from. I have a love for miniatures and have used them for many years in different ways. Doll houses and design and now fairy gardens.

I mimicked my backyard with the frolicking bunnies as my design.

I gathered some beautiful silk flower stems and tossed on the table to look like fresh cutting from the garden. I have to tell you the look so real. I love the colors too. The best part of my backyard is gathering the fresh flowers as they bloom. My spring flowers are the prettiest and are more abundant.

They look real right?

I had to attach an arched door to the side of the basket. It was so Fairy-like. It was the finishing touch.

It is whimsical and sweet.

This fairy garden spring centerpiece will last a long time on my table. This decor is timeless.
Spring beauty to enjoy everyday.

This idea can be used outside too. Fairy gardens are flexible. Try this in a flower pot on your porch.

The sunshine peered through the window and the colors seemed to intensify. Looking at this makes me happy and brings back sweet memories of spring days in my garden and also of my youth. I am ready for the colors to start rushing back and the wind to sing the song of spring.

Outside Decor and Garden Art

The past couple of days have been beautiful and the sunshine has felt so good. That is my cue to work outside. Last month I started on my front porch adding some color. Now I want to add a little garden decor. Problem is that it is still a little early to get the flowers I want.

I was thinking of using succulents for this project but they weren't available yet. I did, however, find some beautiful cactus. So, I decided on a cactus garden with a whimsical watering can for the garden art. I will have to bring these in when cold or at least till more flowers come in season.

Bunny Topiary

I was so inspired by the Antique and Garden Show with that gorgeous moss chair that it got me wanting to create something with moss.

I love creating with chicken wire. I have done a few projects like this painted hutch and the dressform. This is the first time I used moss with it.

I learned a few things and now I have a new thing to show you. I give you all the details on how to make it over at Old Time Pottery's blog. Go check it out! Let me know what you think. I bet you can come up with all types of ideas for this project.

Oh and that umbrella is another project I did. You can find it here!
Happy Spring!! It can't come soon enough for me!!

Succulent Purse Centerpiece

Finally a plant that survives my lack of watering skills.

I love fresh flowers and plants but sometimes I forget to water them.

I know.....don't judge!

These beautiful succulents store water so they don't need to be watered so often. This works great for me!
I love moss projects and I have done a few like my moss cover letters and birds, but this one is my favorite! A beautiful Succulent Purse Centerpiece!

Fairy Garden

When I first moved to Tennessee I was in High School. Yes, it was awful to be moved out of state and leave everyone behind.

There were no cell phones, skyping, Facebook, Instagram, Google+ any way to connect with friends. Just old fashioned writing letters. (that got old quick)

I had no friends and was ready to start in a new school. Then, a blonde hair beauty showed up at my grandmother's house one day. We were living with my grandmother till we found a house to move into.

Her name was Carol. She became my friend and I survived my transition. We had a blast! We laughed and did things we probably shouldn't have but we created some great memories.

We are still friends today.

Happy Mother's Day

Today many are celebrating what it means to be a mom.

I shared one of my special memories with you with my Blueberry pie story and recipe.

And now,
I want to share my pictures from the conservatory at the Bellagio from my trip to Vegas this week.

This is my gift to you!

Being a mom....I think that can be interpreted in many ways. No matter what makes you a mom today, the meaning of love is what is similar.

You planted a seed in someone's heart, nurtured it and watched it bloom.

Your words of truth and encouragement strengthened them

Your bond of love will continue to grow and be passed on

You may never know how much the power YOUR love has changed a life

Not everyone can be a Mom

It means giving up everything and getting everything all at the same time!
Unconditional Love....

That is why today we celebrate YOU!

Happy Mother's Day!

Enjoy your day!

Turquoise Bench

I came across this bench awhile ago. It is hand made but so dark. There was a nice design to it, so it intrigued me. I thought it would be something different to paint. It is so solid and heavy.

Of course the finish was a little rough so I just let it work for me. Now to find a bright cheery color.

 I decided on Turquoise.

I just dry brushed this one. I let that roughness shine through. I sanded the ugly brown paint in some areas then dry brushed the others.

Now the finish looks worn off in some areas. The bright color just makes it pop!

So it is a new look for the bench. I can just imagine potted flowers all around it with some really pretty pillows. But....

I will just have to imagine because it is another piece that is for sale! I don't mind because I love being a part of it and letting it go for someone to enjoy!

I would love if you would follow me on my journey!
